Help for Adults

Connexions Cumbria is part of a network of organisations throughout Cumbria which provides a free information and advice service for any adult aged 20 years and over. We can help with career progression or change, finding opportunities on learning, work and job search.

 

What we offer

A confidential service delivered by helpful, expert, qualified, and competent staff.

Up-to-date and accurate information, advice on learning, training and employment opportunities.

A comprehensive library with information in different formats on careers, courses and funding. Assistance with job hunting, interview technique and CV preparation, although we are unable to provide a typing service.

A drop in information and advice service to help you with initial enquiries.

Staff will be able to help you:

  • Explore relevant opportunities.
  • Understand more about your strengths and weaknesses Identify your skills and experience.
  • Help you choose the best option for you.
  • Plan your next steps.
  • If appropriate, support in finding ways of overcoming barriers that might affect access to learning, training and employment.
  • Use computer programs to help you generate career ideas and research courses (there will always be someone there to help you if you need it).
  • Access a referral service where we will put you in touch with specialist organisations which will be better able to help you.

What you can expect from us

  • Free, impartial, confidential information and advice.
  • A written summary of your discussion if you require one.
  • To inform you if appointment times are altered.

What we expect from you

  • To complete our client enquiry form on your first contact with us.
  • To be as clear as possible on what you want from us.
  • To let us know in advance if you are unable to keep an appointment.
  • To give us feedback on the service you received by completing our survey, this helps us to make improvements.
