Information for Parents & Carers

Working Together

We believe that parents are the single biggest influence on a young person's life. In broad terms this means that you have a very important role to play with a whole range of career-based decisions as well as offering personal support. These range from choosing GCSE options in year 9 to helping your son or daughter choose both further and higher education courses and finally helping them make the most appropriate choice of career.

To help you guide your child's career and education choices, our Personal Advisers are available to meet you at school parents' evenings, careers events or at your local Connexions Centre and we have a number of useful publications and information, including printed matter, computer software programmes and electronic information, which your son or daughter can access in the office or in school.

Lifelong Learning

It is important that your son/daughter carries on 'learning' throughout their life, not just whilst at school. By becoming a 'Lifelong Learner' they can gain the skills and knowledge to take on new opportunities and new ways of working in the future.

Learning Pays

Evidence shows that those who take part in education and training improve their chances of getting a job. The way people work will continue to change, technology is having a huge impact on the job market; no one can rely on a job for life so be sure your son/daughter had the right qualifications for success.
