Mental Health

We know that things can go wrong with our bodies. We may become ill or hurt ourselves in an accident. We can also have problems with our mental health and our minds can become ill. There are different types of mental illnesses. These include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Eating problems
  • Schizophrenia
  • Post natal depression

Our feelings often tell us that we are having a mental health problem and sometimes people can find it difficult to talk about.

Mental health problems are nothing to be ashamed of. Famous people who have been depressed include JK Rowling, Winston Churchill and Janet Jackson.

If you are feeling confused and depressed talk to someone now - your doctor, teacher, a member of your family or a Connexions Personal Adviser by phoning our free phone number: 0800 435 709

Or talk to a childrens' counsellor on the phone by calling Childline on 0800 1111, a free 24-hour helpline for children and young people.
