In the future, Connexions Cumbria will be known as Inspira, reflecting our broader purpose, which is to Inspire people, organisations and communities to be successful.

Connexions Cumbria is well known in the region and we are extremely proud of our strong local reputation. So within Cumbria, we will continue to use the Connexions name in relation to specific, well-known services for young people.

Disabililty Discrimination Act

The Disability Discrimination Act brings in new laws aimed at ending the discrimination which many disabled people face. The Act gives disabled people new rights in the areas of:

  • Employment
  • Access to goods and services (installing of ramps and hand grips etc.)
  • Buying or renting land or property

The Act also requires schools, colleges and universities to provide information for disabled people, and also allows the government to set minimum standards so that disabled people can use public transport more easily. The Act allows for discrimination in favour of disabled people and provides disabled people with the right to challenge discriminatory behaviour.

If you have difficulty viewing or navigating the Connexions Cumbria website, we have a simplified, text only version available here. You can even change the colours, text and links to suit your needs.

If you are a person with a disability and feel that you have been discriminated against go to drc-gb.org (their website is at the bottom of this page).

You can also speak confidentially to one of Connexions personal advisers, by phoning our free phone number:
