What young people say about us

Over 300 young people from the most vulnerable groups took part in this year’s annual young people’s survey.

Overall, young people reported very high levels of satisfaction with the services and support that they had received from Connexions Cumbria.

99% of  young people said that they were satisfied or very satisfied with the
service.

With regards to the contact with the service, almost three quarters of respondents had contacted Connexions Cumbria five times or more for support with a range of career-related and personal issues.

86% reported that it was easy to get hold of Connexions Cumbria staff when they needed to.

With regards to accessing services in the future, 91% felt that it would be helpful to have all support in one place.

The findings suggest that young people in the sample are more likely to discuss careers-based issues with Connexions Cumbria staff than personal issues.  However, 44% of young people said that they wish to access support on personal matters such as money and benefits, substance misuse, contraception and sexual health in the future.  This suggests a continued demand for both employability related support as well as personal support.

The Connexions Cumbria “brand” in terms of how the organisation is perceived is very positive:-

95% said that Connexions Cumbria had a lot to offer young people.

97% said that Connexions Cumbria respects and listens to them.

96% said that Connexions Cumbria staff know what they are taking about.

When asked if there was any help that they needed that Connexions Cumbria currently doesn’t provide, 89% of young people said no.

Young people were asked to identify what kind of issues they may want support with in the future.  Topics included money and benefits, job search, housing, education, training and careers advice.  Connexions Cumbria currently provides support for young people on all of these issues.

The survey findings provide a clear indication that Connexions Cumbria is well received by the most vulnerable groups of young people, with high levels of satisfaction reported.
